Privacy

Short version: yajilin.com has no accounts, no adverts and nothing to buy, so there is very little to say. Nobody here knows who you are. The apps collect nothing at all.

The apps

The Yajilin app for iPhone and Android makes no network requests. Every puzzle it will ever show you is already inside it when you install it, and the date it uses comes from your own device, not from a server. Your progress, the grid size you last chose and your solving times are written to storage on the phone and never sent anywhere. There is no analytics code in the app. Delete the app and all of it goes with it.

This website

The website is a different matter, because it is a website. Three things record something when you play here.

Puzzle statistics

When you start and finish a puzzle the site adds one to a running total for that day and grid size: how many people started, how many finished, the total time taken, and how many checks were used. It is a single row per puzzle per size, shared by everyone who played it. No row is kept about you, and nothing links one visit to another. This is what powers the average time shown when you solve a puzzle.

Watchtower

A page counter run on our own server at watchtower.adamstoner.com. It records the page address, where you arrived from, and any campaign tags in the link. It sets no cookies and sends no credentials. It is used to see which puzzles people read and where they came from.

Google Analytics

The site also uses Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies in your browser and sends usage data to Google, acting as our processor. Google's own privacy policy covers what they do with it. You can block it with any content blocker or by turning on Do Not Track in your browser, and the site works exactly the same without it.

What is never collected

No name, no email address, no account, no payment details, no location, no advertising identifier, no device fingerprint. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with anyone beyond the processors named above.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or erased, and complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. In practice there is nothing here to hand over, because nothing recorded is tied to a person. The lawful basis for the aggregate counts and the page counter is legitimate interest in knowing whether the puzzles are any good; the basis for Google Analytics is your consent, which you withdraw by blocking it.
